Poem 18

For this new house you’ve afforded us, 
For the shelter you’ve chosen to bestow us, 
For the blessings that you our Lord has bestowed, 
Èdùmàrè, may your name be hallowed.

You have gifted us this shelter,
A place to hide from the sun’s glitter,
To save ourselves from the rain’s shower,
We praise and adore our great ruler.

Elédùmarè, our sole provider,
Let this house be our reminder, 
Of your grace and benevolence to us, 
From this day till we finish our course. 

With our heads bowed we beseech you, 
To bless those looking up to you,
To grant them without delay,
This request you’ve granted us today.

Elédùmarè, sanctify this building, 
Uphold those to whom you’ve given, 
The grace of this bountiful blessing 
And the rest of us here, we’re praying
